Despite the latest CoD installment being largely divisive, Activision has announced that the new MW3 Zombies mode is now the most-played co-op mode in Modern Warfare history. The Call of Duty publisher also revealed that “just two weeks in, MWIII has already set records with the highest engagement in the new Modern Warfare trilogy,” – an outstanding feat considering the backlash it received ahead of the official launch.
With the MW3 Season 1 start date fast approaching, Activision and Sledgehammer Games celebrated these milestones through a post from the official Call of Duty X account. This also wasn’t the only exciting news revealed, as the game’s developer also told players to “look for a triple feed holiday weekend this week with Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Battle Pass XP coming your way.” They then officially announced that the first MW3 season would begin in the first week of December.
In addition to the MW3 double XP weekend confirmation and the official reveal of the first season’s launch date, Activision also provided additional statistics showing just how successful the latest series entry has been compared to its predecessors. According to the graphic provided by the publisher, MW3 boasts “more hours per player overall than MW2019 and MW2.”
MWZ is also apparently the most engaging third mode in MW history, while “campaign players are putting in more time per player in MW3 than the previous two installments.” Though the former is largely understandable, seeing as the community has practically been begging for a new Zombies mode, the latter is surprising, considering the criticism the campaign received during the early access period in the first week of November.
