Players taking part in the MW3 beta don’t appear to be too impressed with the killstreaks in MW3 so far, with some even going so far as to dub them boring.

As the game gears up to welcome PC and Xbox players come the MW3 beta start time later today, a thread on the Modern Warfare 3 subreddit bemoans the current crop of rewards for killstreaks – a staple of the series to reward players who do well by scoring kills without dying. In the beta, there’s only eight of these to pick from so far, meaning the list of MW3 best killstreaks is looking rather slight. According to Wxgwan, they “feel like MW3 is lacking powerful streaks, and I’m hoping there’s a few fun streaks in the full game.”

Jespertherapper agrees with that sentiment, adding “They always kept like 3 streaks away from the beta, but now it feels like we only got a half of the killstreaks. I don’t expect any interesting choices except streaks that Modern Warfare is known for. Would be surprising if they added dogs, but I doubt it.” In fact, people like Grady_Shady even go so far as to say “I feel like streaks lately have been boring,” but are optimistic for change, pointing out that “One thing I liked that SHG (Sledgehammer Games, who are also leading development on MW3) did was add new perks and streaks throughout the season.”

Poster drcubeftw concurs with Grady’s assessment, and says “Black Ops 2 from 2012 was the last game loaded with good streaks. Even the cheap low level streaks were useful, to say nothing of the top tier ones that could clear lobbies.” However, other posters point out that not everyone is a fan of the killstreaks that dominate an entire game. “Contrary to popular belief, being killed by a Harrier Pavelow AC130 for the entire duration of the game was not too enjoyable.”

That being said, many have pointed out that the game’s recent Multiplayer Reveal Trailer did include some killstreaks that haven’t been seen so far in the beta, so it looks fairly certain there’ll be more in the full game for players to discover – and get killed by – as well as, of course, the infamous tactical nuke that has been spotted in the beta. Whether the variety will be what the community are hoping to see, we’ll have to wait for the game’s full release to find out.
