*UPDATED* MW2 Hardcore Mode confirmed coming in Season 2

Infinity Ward has revealed that a more traditional Hardcore Mode will be returning to MW2 multiplayer as part of the upcoming Season 2.

While MW2 launched with ‘Tier 1’ mode – and you can find out how to play Tier 1 on MW2 right here – but a more traditional version of hardcore was confirmed by the studio’s Twitter account over the weekend.

There are some subtle differences between Tier 1 and Hardcore – mainly that Tier 1 gives you a little more health, and a few more HUD elements.

The news has so far gone down quite well with the MW2 community on Reddit, who reacted to the news largely positively – especially given the perceived dearth of attention given to the multiplayer mode of late.

“Should’ve been there at launch, but I’m very happy they’re moving in the right direction. Maybe this means more changes for MP than we thought, hopefully,” said RJE808.

Modern Warfare 2 hardcore mode predicted release date

At the time of writing, It’s not clear if Hardcore mode will be available at the launch of Season 2 or as part of the mid season update.

If it comes at the start, then it should be available from February 15, 2023. Otherwise, we predicted it should land around the end of April. Should we get a confirmed date, we’ll let you know.

Modern Warfare 2 hardcore mode – which modes will be included in hardcore mode?

At the moment, we don’t know which modes will be included in the Hardcore Playlist. However, Infinity Ward has promised a deep dive into Season 2 blog to reveal more information later this week.
