Here’s what we know about Tier 1 playlists in MW2.

How to play Tier 1 in MW2?

As of the launch of Season 1, Tier 1 playlists are now available in Modern Warfare 2. To try them, simply head to the multiplayer menu and you should see a tile for the Tier 1 playlist under Multiplayer.

You can press Square on PlayStation or X on Xbox to adjust the filter within this playlist so that you just play Tier 1 matches of a certain game type, for example Team Deathmatch or Kill Confirmed.

Once that’s done, select the playlist and you’ll be matchmade into a game in no time – it’s as simple as that.

Tier 1 Playlists were not available in MW2 right away. Infinity Ward themselves confirmed on their Twitter account “For everyone wondering, Tier 1 is not in the game at launch, but will be available soon.”

What are Tier 1 playlists in MW2?

Tier 1 Playlists – formerly known as Hardcore mode in earlier Call of Duty titles – is a special mode intended for those who want to give themselves an extra challenge.

In these playlists, Operators have less health, and there are also less HUD elements on screen to help you. So you’re a bit more vulnerable and you don’t have as much intel. Friendly Fire is also switched on.

It sort of acts as a modifier to existing game modes, so within Tier 1 you have your Team Deathmatch, etc with those rules applying as normal. However, Tier 1 playlists are always clearly marked, so don’t worry about accidentally heading in there unaware.
