The story begins as a giant planetoid is approaching Earth, which just so happens to be the home planet of the Triceratons. The Triceratons are a technologically advanced race who are seeking the power of teleportation and require the assistance of Professor Honeycutt, an acquaintance of the turtles. The problems begin when the Triceratons learn that the professor no longer lives on earth, and refusing to believe the news they begin a full-on attack of Earth in search for him.

This sets up the game which takes place over three episodes comprising of 60 missions in which The Ninja Turtles must fight off the Triceratons, beginning in New York and eventually ending in space as you battle the Triceraton fleet. Up to four players can join the game, with each taking control of one of the Turtles. Throughout, players can collect special crystals which can be used to gain new skills and combination attacks. Special moves called Ougi Attacks can also be activated by filling up an Ougi gauge, achieved by fighting enemies. The Turtles can also join forces to deliver a devastating group attack.

Players will initially be limited to the story mode, but other game modes will be unlocked as you meet key objectives. These modes include Free Battle, Score Attack and Time Attack. As an extra bonus, players can also unlock a perfect conversion of the ‘Turtles in Time’ arcade machine.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare is scheduled for release on PlayStation 2 and Xbox across Europe in April.
