During October in Japan Nintendo’s 3DS sold 304,000 units, making it the best-selling hardware for the fifth month running. However, during the same period only 122,000 3DS games were sold.

A Mainichi Entertainment report suggests that many new 3DS owners are replacing their DS units, but waiting until the big releases to pick up new titles – Super Mario 3D Land hit Japanese stores last week and is expected to be the first big hit since Ocarina of Time 3D.

Sales figures to include Super Mario 3D Land are expected tomorrow.
