Cold Symmetry and Playstack have announced that Mortal Shell: The Virtuous Cycle —a roguelike expansion to last year’s Souls-like—will launch on August 18.

First announced last month, the DLC promises to “reinvent your journey through Fallgrim and beyond” with enemies cycling and shuffling upon death. There’s more than 100 new abilities to discover and combine, and pillars bestowing new talents. You’ll also get to control Hadern for the first time, as the former teacher becomes the game’s fifth possessable Shell with his own unique skill tree in both the main campaign and the DLC.

There’s also a new weapon in the form of the Axatana. This transforming weapon starts off as a supreme heavy axe, but can also be detached into a pair of lightning fast kitanas, as you do. There’ll be unique movesets to unlock for both forms of the weapon for you to master as well.

Check out the trailer for the new expansion for yourself below.  You can also have a read of our review of the original game right over this way. Mortal Shell: The Virtuous Cycle launches on August 18 and will be available for the game on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
