Capcom has dated the upcoming Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion for a release on June 30.

The news came during the company’s previously-promised Monster Hunter Digital Event broadcast earlier today. To accompany the date announcement, the publisher also dropped some new details along with a new trailer for the expansion. This included a look at new locale The Citadel. This area houses a ruined fort, and is also the home of dangerous monsters like Garangolm.

He’s a huge creature, who can cover each arm in moss and magma respectively when he gets angry. It’s probably best you stay clear, as this allows him to attack with both fire and water elements. Another new monster is the fanged wyvern Lunagaron. This creature covers its body in a layer of ice, armouring it from all but the strongest attacks. You’ll have to use all your Monster Hunting skills to take it down.

Two more creatures we get a look at include a new version of the Bishaten, called the Blood Orange Bishaten. Unlike their regular counterpart, this one throws exploding pine cones at unwary Hunters. Finally, the returning Astalos will make its comeback in this expansion, generating electricity in its horn, wings and tail. You’ll have to stop it before it can charge up all its power.

You can check this out and more in the full presentation, as well as the trailer on its own, for yourself down below. The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion arrives for the game on Nintendo Switch and PC on June 30, 2022.
