Modern Warfare 2 recently introduced an unexpected crossover with outrageously graphic superhuman-laden TV series The Boys as part of its Season 4 Reloaded update. But even though this partnership with a popular piece of mainstream media brought a much needed breath of fresh air to the latest CoD installment, some players weren’t exactly pleased with the collaboration due to the exclusion of two of the show’s central characters in Butcher and Soldier Boy.

William Butcher, the de facto leader of the non-superpowered titular group The Boys, and Soldier Boy, the former head of The Seven, were seemingly shoe-ins for crossover appearances due to both of their associations with the military. Alas, it seems as if Activision decided against including both of them since the tragic antihero and the recurring antagonist wouldn’t have been as flashy as the inclusions of Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir.

Based on a handful of comments under box-fort2‘s Reddit post, though, this may have been a massive oversight on the publisher’s part since some are saying that Karl Urban’s “voice lines alone” would’ve had them buying the bundle. MaximusMarkimus then added to the list of players wanting a Butcher skin as they said they “would’ve unironically loved Butcher as an operator and thought it was the obvious choice.”

A number of commenters similarly shared their disappointment at not getting a Soldier Boy-themed skin as killingbites said: “It’s a crime they didn’t make a Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy) operator,” while Canadiantx69 mentioned that they “fully get [including] Black Noir, but not putting in Butcher and Soldier Boy or Mother’s Milk is f***ing mind-boggling to me.”

With Season 4 Reloaded only having begun, however, the developers could still end up shocking the fan base with a surprise, last-minute inclusion of both these characters. But with the launch of Call of Duty 2023 inching ever closer, this may just be wishful thinking at this point.
