The recently released Modern Warfare 2 Season 4 Reloaded update has largely received a lukewarm reception so far as the features included with the latest patch primarily lack the content that the fan base had long been asking for.
Although the midseason update’s The Boys crossover and its Vondel reloaded map initially made waves upon launch, early interest towards these new goodies have already waned as a number of prevalent in-game issues allegedly caused by the midseason patch have now started rearing their ugly heads. Based on several Reddit posts, many are now complaining that Modern Warfare 2 PC performance has been “in the toilet” since the Season 4 Reloaded update was launched, which unfortunately has prevented players from fully enjoying the new offerings, no matter how little they may be.
According to a thread created by JohnWickUK65, they’d note that PC performance has been horrid throughout the midseason update as they’ve constantly experienced losses of “over 50 FPS in games” and “screen lag” yet their ping apparently says there shouldn’t be any. They would end their message by calling out developers Infinity Ward and Raven Software, saying: “When are they going to start testing [their] updates on PC as well as consoles before they actually release it?”
A handful of comments below the same post have reportedly experience the same thing as deadmeme86 said that they “dropped from 140 to 40 [FPS]” after the patch. A user named eeeeore then added to the growing number of complaints by mentioning the fact that they’re “running a 7900xt [graphics card] and was getting 60 FPS no matter what settings [were used].” It also seems as if altering the Modern Warfare 2 graphics settings also doesn’t help since solidus_1983 reported no change in PC performance after doing so.
Alas, with how the developers have reacted towards player complaints so far, it doesn’t seem like we’ll be getting a fix for these issues any time soon. And with the footfalls of Call of Duty 2023‘s forward march now starting to echo louder, Infinity Ward and Raven Software may already have other projects on their minds at this point.
