Activision and Infinity Ward have now released their first batch of Modern Warfare 2 patch notes following the release of Season 5 and one of the fixes included finally addresses an issue that’s been present since the game’s launch.

According to the list of changes made, the developers have apparently “fixed an issue where using a weapon with an Integrated Suppressor will ping a player’s location on the minimap with an active enemy UAV despite Ghost being active.” This meant that using the Ghost perk in multiplayer matches often served no purpose as enemies would still be able to locate you if you were equipped with a weapon that had an Integrated Suppressor attachment.

Most players that saw this specific fix immediately commented on its inclusion as a CoD content creator named KRNG Hero said: “Huge one, glad this finally got fixed.” Some, however, weren’t as impressed since this glitch had long been terrorizing the game’s servers since its initial release. Alas, with several known bugs continuing to permeate Modern Warfare 2’s ecosystem, we may not see a fully satisfied fan base any time soon.

Now that the Modern Warfare 3 released date is fast approaching as well, most of the other changes included are predictably minor in nature as Activision and Sledgehammer Games have already turned their attention to the next installment. Nevertheless, the aforementioned bug fix should still be welcome news to MW2 fans as they’ll no longer need to worry about their match getting ruined because of a meager exploit.
