In the lifespan of Call of Duty, many perks have been tweaked and changed over the years. But a series regular has had an interesting tweak in the recent Modern Warfare 2 beta.
As noted by CharlieIntel (and user u/RealMathmatician363 on Reddit) the Dead Silence perk (now technically a Field Upgrade) makes a rather loud noise when it’s activated.

In case you’re not aware, Dead Silence usually silences the footsteps of the player using it, meaning they don’t show up on the mini-map and affording players the element of surprise.
Crucially, Dead Silence is now not a Perk, but a Field Upgrade. This means it’s actually a separate item you can equip in your loadout – and is activated once you’ve scored enough points or kills to charge it up.
Once charged, you manually activate it by hitting both shoulder buttons. But make sure you’re somewhere quiet when you do – because it now makes a distinctive beep like a radio and can really give your position away if you’re not careful.
Incidentally, perks themselves also got a big change up in Modern Warfare 2. See, now you pick a perk package, which comprises of two base perks, a bonus perk and an ultimate perk – with the latter two activating as the match goes on.
