It’s N7 day, and EA and Bioware have capped the annual celebration off with an overtly cryptic teaser for Mass Effect 5. The now-complete trailer was initially released in short, frustratingly brief increments through the game’s official website that often didn’t provide any context, much to the chagrin of fans. Luckily, the clip was eventually finished off after a few excruciating hours, seemingly showing off the upcoming game’s masked protagonist.
Though information remains scarce on the next series installment’s plot, cast of characters, and every other important detail under the sun, this sneak peek serves as a perfect reminder of Mass Effect’s ever-lasting impact on its loyal fan base, years after the last full entry, Mass Effect: Andromeda, was released. Of course, the trailer’s page, along with its near-undiscernible jumble of machine text, essentially serves as a gift that fans can use to create speculations and fan theories that gradually fuel the hype train.
Unfortunately, if you’re itching to get your hands on the next game, you may have to remain patient a little longer as EA and BioWare have not given any indication of when they’ll be releasing Mass Effect 5. Of course, with The Game Awards set to cap the year off in a handful of weeks, we could soon get to see more of this highly anticipated project. But take this with a grain of salt, like always, because this is still merely speculation.
