Following its momentous reveal during BlizzCon 2023, you may be wondering when the World of Warcraft The War Within release date will be. The World of Warcraft The War Within release date is scheduled for Fall 2024, according to the announcement made during BlizzCon 2023. This expansion kicks off the beginning of the Blizzard MMORPG’s next storyline, entitled the Worldsoul Saga. Though specific details on the DLC remain scarce as of writing, the developers will surely reveal more details in the coming months as we approach the specified launch window.
In addition to announcing The War Within’s launch window, Blizzard has also revealed that they will release a pre-patch a few months earlier, which introduces several new features, including World Events, Warbands, Dynamic Flight, and Guild Updates. They will also be holding the Alpha and Beta periods for The War Within much earlier after the development team showcased their plans for the new year with their World of Warcraft Classic and The War Within release schedule roadmap.

As mentioned by Chris Metzen during BlizzCon 2023, World of Warcraft: The War Within will see players “descend into the heart of Azeroth itself, exploring new subterranean kingdoms, and engaging with ancient cultures, like the Earthens and the Nerubians.” In addition, the lengthy and dramatic announcement cinematic that Blizzard showcased during their event gave viewers a look at the long-awaited return of Anduin.

Only one trailer for World of Warcraft The War Within has surfaced to date, which was the cinematic Blizzard revealed during their annual event. The cinematic featured a heartfelt and dramatic reunion between Anduin and Thrall as they band together to defeat an as-yet unknown evil.
