NetEase Games is currently working hard on continued support for Marvel Rivals, bringing a swathe of new heroes to the game, including a host of X-Men, in future updates.
Alongside working on new heroes, maps and future events, the developer is also working on bringing the game to additional platforms. With the Nintendo Switch 2 now officially announced, although we still don’t know the complete specs for sure, NetEase is “in talks” to bring its popular superhero game to Nintendo’s new handheld.
Marvel Rivals Switch 2 port teased
In an interview with IGN at the 2025 DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu explained that the studio is currently talking to Nintendo about the possibility of a Marvel Rivals Switch 2 port.
“We’re already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits,” Wu told the outlet. “And whenever we find that we could provide great performance for our game on Switch 2, we’re open to that.”
As for the original Switch, well, that’s not happening – as expected. Wu explained that the team did try to create a port for the original handheld/console hybrid, but they just couldn’t find the performance. With the developer’s struggles to create Doctor Strange’s portal and bring the game’s destruction to current-gen platforms, it’s no surprise that the original handheld was off the table.
“The reason why we didn’t launch it onto the Switch, it was the first generation of that device they cannot provide a great experience for our gameplay,” Wu explained. “So if it [Switch 2] could achieve that goal, we’re open to that.”
Outside of a new Mario Kart game, no official Nintendo Switch 2 games have been confirmed at the time of writing, although many are in development. If a Marvel Rivals Switch 2 port is released, it will prove that the upcoming handheld can keep up with the current generation of consoles.
