Now that Marvel has remembered the X-Men exist after the brand’s failed Inhumans push, NetEase’s Marvel Rivals is going hard on the mutant part of the superhero universe. With new characters coming to the game every month-and-a-half, NetEase is already working on a large number of heroes and villains to add into the game’s roster.
Alongside leaks for Ghost Rider, Ultron and more, NetEase is going particularly hard on future X-Men characters for the game. Following dataminers discovering files for Professor X, a swarm of other X-Men characters have been discovered in the game.
Marvel Rivals goes hard on X-Men
Revealed in a number of posts by datamining team X0XLeaks, Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games is working on adding a number of mutant heroes, anti-heroes and villains from the X-Men roster to the game. As game designer Thaddeus Sasser told us, datamined characters are never promised to come to the game, but it is a good sign that the X-Men will be properly taken care of in-game.

Collating a number of leaks from the dataminers, the Marvel Rivals development team are working on adding the following X-Men to the game:
- Professor X
- Gambit
- Rogue
- Jubilee
- Nightcrawler
- Beast
- Colossus
- Locus (wow deep cut)
- Trapster (aka Paste-Pot-Pete)
- Jia Jing (aka Sprite)
At the time of writing, not all of these characters have roles laid out in the game files. However, some do. For example, Nightcrawler is a Duelist as well as Gambit and Rogue is listed as a strategist. Colossus is listed as a tank alongside Paste Pot Pete, and Professor X, Jia Jing, and Locus are all support characters. It’s not known what role Beast will play.
While nothing is confirmed at the time of writing and plans will certainly shift as time goes on, there’s a lot of hope for fans of the X-Men. With the arrival of some truly deep cuts from the Marvel comics, it’s clear that Marvel Rivals isn’t going to rest with adapting only popular comic book characters. This means that my dream of having Big Wheel in the game is actually a possibility.
