Mario Kart Tour – the smartphone spin-off of Nintendo’s popular racer – will be getting a substantial multiplayer update this September.
The news was tweeted by the game’s official Twitter account, revealing it’ll arrive at the end of September. According to recent rumours, this update could include a new Battle Mode.

Mario Kart Tour – September update release date
While the tweet wasn’t specific, it did reveal the update will be arriving “at the end of September.”
The update itself promises “new ways to play multiplayer” and will see the game’s Gold Races removed. These were special races, only available to those who were subscribed to the premium Mario Kart Tour Gold Pass.
Staying vague, the tweet didn’t reveal exactly what these new multiplayer modes would entail, but did promise to share more information in early September.
However, dataminers online have found some big clues as to what players can expect in the update as far back as June of this year.
Mario Kart Tour – September update predicted contents
According to Koopavocelot (via Twitter account kart_tour) a list of sound files pertaining to Battle Mode maps were found in the game’s files.
This included music from Cookie Land from Mario Kart Double Dash, Twilight House from Mario Kart 7 and Battle Course from Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
There were also references to new levels, seemingly based off the Tour-exclusive maps. These included Paris Promenade and New York Minute.
Hopefully, we’ll get official word from Nintendo soon. Watch this space. In a similar vein, no sooner has Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launched its second wave of Booster Course tracks, when we might have an idea of what’s coming in Wave 3.
