The cast of voice actors for Bungie’s upcoming team-based extraction shooter, Marathon, has been revealed. Bungie, the creators of Halo and Destiny, are bringing the Marathon franchise back for the first time in over 30 years since the series’ debut in 1994, and it features an impressive ensemble of voices, including Clair Obscur Expedition 33’s Maelle and Verso, alongside stars from Baldur’s Gate 3.
Marathon was originally planned to be released in September 2025, a deadline that people were reportedly pessimistic about as far back as 2024. A new release date has now been confirmed for March 5, 2026, and despite Sony Interactive Entertainment owning Bungie since acquiring the developer in 2022, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC at launch.

Marathon voice cast features star-studded talent from Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and Baldur’s Gate 3
There is a wealth of incredible talent among Marathon’s voice cast. Bungie hasn’t disclosed details about any roles, but two names that immediately stand out are Ben Starr and Jennifer English, who played Clair Obscur Expedition 33’s two leading characters, Verso and Maelle.
Both of their performances in Expedition 33 were incredible, earning Jennifer English the Best Performance award for Maelle at The Game Awards 2025 and Ben Starr the Best Supporting Performer award for Verso at the Golden Joystick Awards 2025.
Other notable names include talent from Baldur’s Gate 3. Jennifer English starred as Shadowheart and is joined in Marathon by fellow Baldur’s Gate 3 cast members Samantha Béart, who played Karlach, and Neil Newbon, who won Best Performer at The Game Awards 2023 for his role as Astarion.
As if the cast weren’t already packed with enough award-winning talent, Marathon also features Roger Clark, who won Best Performer at The Game Awards 2018 for his iconic role as Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2.
While the quality of the voice cast isn’t in doubt, there is lingering skepticism surrounding Marathon. Past controversies include Bungie telling Destiny 2 fans that Marathon “isn’t the game for you,” as well as allegations of stolen artwork, an issue that was reportedly resolved in December 2025.
A lot is riding on Marathon as another live-service multiplayer title from Sony. So far, Sony’s track record with live-service games has been hit-or-miss at best, with Helldivers 2 proving to be a major success, while Concord was an embarrassing failure that Sony shut down just one week after launch, offering refunds to players.
Marathon isn’t necessarily doomed to fail like Concord, but its success remains to be seen. Sony invested heavily in Bungie, acquiring the studio for a reported $3.7 billion in 2022, and the relationship has not been entirely smooth, with Sony taking greater control over the developer’s decisions and implementing a “structural reform” in 2025.
