Sega Europe has published the English version of a recent sit-down interview video between Lost Judgment‘s general director Toshihiro Nagoshi and Takuya Kimura who plays lead character Takayuki Yagmi.

Those keeping track will recognise the interview as the same as the one published to developer Ryu Ga Gotoku’s Japanese YouTube channel last month, but this new version includes a full English translation, so we can pick up a few extra details on this second go around.

Speaking on the latest game’s high school setting, Nagoshi says it was chosen as one of the game’s key motifs would be around bullying, and the studio felt that “this could be something people had never seen.” Kimura meanwhile jokes how he thought this sequel would be an easy ride in his portrayal of Yagmi, but the director included all kinds of situations to keep him on his toes.

We also get some extra information on how the team worked on the game’s new setting of the Ijincho district of Yokohama, with Kimura questioning producer Kazuki Hosokawa who joins them midway through the video. Asking about location scouting, the two developers speak on the importance of doing proper research, otherwise “you can feel the gap between that and reality.”  There’s also some further details revealed about the game’s Master System console, revealing that during gameplay you’ll be able to find additional games on top of Alex Kidd in Miracle World by completing tasks around the city.

You can check out the whole interview for yourself below. Lost Judgment is expected to launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on September 24. Earlier this week it was rumoured that the game could be the final entry in the Judgment series due to a disagreement between Sega and Takuya Kimura’s talent agency.
