Publisher Frontier Developments has released a gameplay overview trailer for upcoming strategy FPS hybrid Lemnis Gate.

Unlike most other shooters, the  default action takes place in turns. On your turn, you’ll deploy as an operative and control them in first person for 25 seconds. At the end of the turn, the timeloop resets, and the second member of your team takes their turn. The twist is that each loop, everyone who’s taken their turn will constantly repeat their actions in the next loop.

If you’re killed during a loop, you’ll become a ghost. You’ll still be able to perform actions, but they won’t become “real” unless someone takes out your attacker in a subsequent loop. Though it sounds complicated, it makes sense when you see it laid out in the video, and makes for very interesting strategies.

There’s seven unique operatives to pick from, and four game modes to play. There’s eleven maps at launch, and you can even have different match types, with turn based and simultaneous options in multiple configurations of players.

You can check out the gameplay overview trailer for yourself down below. Lemnis Gate launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on September 28, 2021. It’ll also be available day one via Xbox Game Pass.
