Metal Gear Solid Delta is set to release sometime this year, but Konami is still yet to reveal the game’s release date on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. While the game’s release window has not been changed, Konami still isn’t revealing when the game will launch, but they company is very sorry.
Metal Gear Solid Delta release date apology
During the recent Tokyo Game Show weekend, Metal Gear Solid Delta producer Noriaki Okamura apologised for the company’s failure to reveal when fans can play the game. While the company is still revealing gameplay details such as new Codec and camo setups, the return of Phantom Pain mechanics and more, the release date is still not revealed.
Okamura explained that the game’s developers don’t want to make a promise to fans that they can’t keep. As the team is still hard at work on the long-anticipated remake, the producer has pleaded fans to “wait a little longer” for the game’s release date.
With only a few months left in 2024, there is some worry that the upcoming Metal Gear game could end up being delayed into next year. While the team is still aiming for a release date this year, the lack of a concrete day this late could lead to an unwelcome delay.
Why the secrecy?
Typically, release dates for major game releases are set in stone many months before release for marketing material. However, with MGS Delta and even the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake, Konami has made sure to only announce a specific release date until the game is almost ready.
With the massive legacy of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Konami’s team has already revealed the immense pressure of remaking the PS2 game. From keeping the original game’s funny walking animations and reusing its “ancient audio” to even sticking with its outdated gated areas, this is the most faithful remake fans could’ve hoped for.
Metal Gear Solid Delta is still set to release in 2024. We don’t know when.
