Konami has officially confirmed the Silent Hill 2 remake release date, setting the launch for October 2024. The release was revealed during Sony’s State of Play broadcast in May, giving us a look at the fully remade game, complete with improved visuals and a look at the horrific town of Silent Hill. It is unclear if the remake will have any new features, but we’ve seen that the camera controls have changed to third person, as opposed to the fixed camera angles of the original.

When does Silent Hill 2 remake come out?

Silent Hill 2 remake will be released on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. Konami has confirmed this launch date in a trailer during Sony’s State of Play broadcast. While brief, the trailer gave us a glimpse at the combat, some characters, and the exploration we can expect.

Silent Hill 2 remake gameplay details

As with the original Silent Hill 2, you play as James Sunderland who has found himself in Silent Hill looking for his wife. The problem is, his wife passed away before the start of the game, or so James thought, until he gets a letter seemingly from her asking him to find her in Silent Hill. As you might expect, Silent Hill is a creepy place full of monsters and people who don’t have a firm grasp on reality.

Where the original game had fixed camera positions, we’ve seen the remake has switched this perspective to an over-the-shoulder third-person view, alongside what we expect to be a different combat system. As you explore Silent Hill, you’ll face bosses, manage your dwindling supplies, and solve several puzzles in a bid to unravel the greater mystery at play.

Silent Hill 2 remake platforms

As of the release date trailer, we now know the Silent Hill 2 remake will be available on PS5 and PC at launch. There is no word on whether the remake will come to Xbox consoles at the time of writing.
