Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade’s daughter, Cassie Cage, will be a playable character in the upcoming Mortal Kombat X, series creator Ed Boon has revealed.

In a video presentation on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel, Boon talked about the new characters and gameplay innovations coming in X.

First, each character has three variations to choose from, which affects their fighting styles and move sets. Scorpion, for example, can choose between Ninjutsu, Hellfire and Inferno.

D’Vorah is a half human, half insect that can use stingers to attack opponents. Kotal Khan remains a mystery while the giant, ogre like character is named Torr and his little lady companion is Ferra.

Boon also gave an insight into the narrative for Mortal Kombat X, which starts immediately after the events of MK9.

Arenas will contain more interactive elements, too, as characters can run up walls at the end of the plane and also use tree branches for leverage as was shown in the debut gameplay trailer during Sony’s E3 press conference.

In a Tweet earlier this week Boon also confirmed the game is running on a “highly self-customized version of Unreal 3” at 60fps in 1080p. It’s assumed he was referring too the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Mortal Kombat X is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2015.
