Is Diablo 4 a pay to win game?

Diablo 4 fans will be happy to know that it is not a pay-to-win game, which means your wallets are safe – at least for the time being. Since it’s a live service title, there will inevitably be microtransactions involved, such as the ever-present Battle Pass, so you may end up spending money if you plan on playing the game for a long time.

Keep in mind, though, that the items and accessories you can purchase won’t exactly affect your character’s in-game power level. Buying and equipping these objects will only alter your avatar’s appearance, giving you a unique look that others won’t have. Luckily, this means that you should still be able to complete the base campaign without having to spend real-life currency.

Additionally, the game’s seasonal model means new goodies will be added periodically to keep the player base entertained. Those that get the BP should have no problem accessing newly released items. However, it’s currently unclear whether Blizzard plan on making post-game DLC free for other users once it’s released in the future. Fingers crossed that it is, but Blizzard’s track record of being greedy when it comes to additional content indicates otherwise.
