Helldivers 2 currently only features one “vehicle,” the Exosuit Mechs, which players can climb into and control as they take out the Automatons and Terminids. There has also been a leak for a truck for some time but it has yet to materialize. But, what if we didn’t need to wait for Super Earth to develop a new vehicle to use? After all, the Automatons have some great technology already, why don’t we just use that?

U/WhiteRussianPlease took to the Helldivers 2 sub-Reddit to suggest the idea that the Scout Strider Automaton vehicle should be useable saying, “This would be so much fun if we could take these over. Kinda like hijacking a ghost in Halo.”
The Scout Strider is one of the most common enemies you will see during Automaton missions. A grunt-like Trooper can be found sitting in a Walker-esque vehicle that looks like it belongs in Star Wars. These are often seen in groups, usually 2-4 at a time, and can be found at most POIs as well as on patrol and Dropships.
Despite its major weakness of having the back of its rider exposed, which shooting them is the easiest way to take out a Scout Strider, they do look incredibly fun to use, and being able to find unmanned vehicles on the map would be a great addition to the game.
With mechs in the game, the mechanics exist for players to take control of vehicles so this wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. Now that Arrowhead is focused on improving Helldivers 2 and adding new features, it will be interesting to see how far they take it as they look to recapture many of the former players.
But for now, players have a new Major Order to jump into, with this one tasking the Helldivers 2 community with eradicating 1.5 billion enemies from the galaxy. However, if they fail, after four months the Anti-Tank Mines will finally be granted. Considering the last time the community was tasked with exterminating 1 billion Terminids it was a failure, so it seems like Arrowhead is looking at finally giving away the Mines. It will be interesting to see whether the community tries extra hard to ensure victory this time.
