Bossa Studios has announced physics-based fish escape game I Am Fish will launch on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC next month.

The game—the spiritual successor to 2015’s I Am Bread—puts you in the fins of one of four playable fish. It’s up to you to reunite each one with the ocean, as they each navigate their own individual levels with physics based challenges. From children’s bedrooms to traffic filled streets, you’ll have to use increasingly elaborate methods to reach your destination safely.

It helps each of these fish have unique abilities too. There’s the Puffer fish who can inflate themselves, or the Flying Fish who can, well… fly. For a little while, anyway. Then there’s the traditional goldfish, and the Pirahana who can chomp their way out of (and into) trouble.

The game started off life as a prototype all the way back in 2019, when Surgeon Simulator developer Bossa polled fans which it would turn into a full game. It proved rather successful, and in fact the studio appear to be releasing all three, eventually.

Check out the new trailer announcing the date of the I Am Fish launch in the tweet below. The game casts off on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on September 16. It’ll also be available via Xbox Game Pass.
