Ubisoft’s big new game reveal at E3 2008 was survival title I Am Alive, but since then we’ve seen very little on the game, leading some to believe it would never see the light of day. Speaking to IGN this morning, however, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that the mysterious game is still on its way, just not that soon. It won’t arrive until after March 2011.

Speaking during a conference call this morning, Guillemot did shed some light on the project and what’s been going on since development was shifted to Ubisoft’s Shanghai studio.

“We have been totally re-engineering the product, so it is still on the way,” said Guillemot. “It will use the Splinter Cell engine. We think it can become a very good quality product.”

While I Am Alive won’t make Ubisoft’s forthcoming financial year (starting April 1, 2010), numerous other games are due from the publisher. These include a new Assassin’s Creed, the delayed Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction (April), a new game in the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series, Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands, Driver and Raving Rabbids 4.
