Alan Wake 2 has been anticipated for over a decade, but it is finally on the cusp of coming out. It stars the famous writer once again, yet there’s also a new playable character in FBI agent Saga Anderson. In addition to double the amount of playable characters, the game is also double the story as Remedy has shared exactly how long Alan Wake 2 is to beat.

The Alan Wake 2 release date and time is set for All Hallows Eve weekend. It’s the perfect night terror to experience if you’re up for a fright, but be warned the PC system requirements are scarier than anything you’ll encounter on your doorstep come Halloween. It is coming to PlayStation and Xbox as well, and the game’s price is fairly modest compared to most other AAA games.

How long is Alan Wake 2 to beat?

Developer Remedy Entertainment says Alan Wake 2 is over 20 hours long. This was stated by Thomas Puha, Communications Director at Remedy Entertainment, during a collective Q&A shared by WCCFTech. There was no mention of whether the campaign is split evenly between Alan Wake and newcomer Saga Anderson, but they each have their own individual story missions.

Provided the length is accurate, it’s twice as big as the series’ first game. The original 2010 release was 10 hours long for most players, so double the story is a mouth-watering prospect. Get ready for plenty of twists, turns, and frights while exploring Bright Falls during both day and night.

The first game was exclusive to Xbox consoles at launch, meanwhile, AW2 will be available on PlayStation from day one. Of course, it’ll be on Xbox too, and, for PC, it is exclusive to the Epic Games store. It is digital only on all platforms, but THQ Nordic has said they would love to release a physical copy as they originally did for AW on PC.

You can pre-order Remedy’s sequel right now. It is restricted to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on consoles, and its PSN store price is £49.99/$59.99 for the Standard edition, and £64.99/$79.99 for the Deluxe package.
