Wizards and Witches are donning their robes as they prepare to attend the famous school of Witchcraft and Wizardry with the launch of Hogwarts Legacy this week.
Many players are eager to get their hands on their game – and may be wondering when and if they can start downloading the game early so they can play as soon as it launches.

Hogwarts Legacy Preload Time
Whether or not you can download Hogwarts Legacy appears to depend on which version you’re playing on – and the format.
On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S – those who have the Deluxe Edition can download (and indeed play) from right now. The same goes for those who have bought the game’s standard edition on Xbox.
However, those who have opted for the Standard Edition on PlayStation 5 won’t be able to start downloading the game until February 8.
Can you preload Hogwarts Legacy on PC?
On PC, sadly it seems that there will not be a preload for those getting the game on PC, whether through the Epic Game Store or on Steam.
A tweet from the official WB Games Support Twitter account answered a question from a fan, asking about a potential pre-download period.
Their response: “Currently, there are no plans for a preload period for Hogwarts Legacy on PC.”
So if you’re on PC – you’ll have to wait until the game’s release on February 7 in Early Access for the Deluxe Edition and February 10 for the Standard Edition.

Hogwarts Legacy Preload Size
On PlayStation 5, the download size is around 79.80 GB for Hogwarts Legacy. The Xbox Series X|S size clocks in at around 99.79 GB according to the Xbox Store. On PC, the System Requirements ask for a minimum of 85GB available space.
Bear in mind though, that Warner Bros has confirmed that there will be a Day One patch for Hogwarts Legacy, so make sure you save some space for that too.
