Now that it’s already available, you may still want to make sure whether you have the right system to run the game on. Because of the brilliant visuals that have been displayed in many of the gameplay videos so far, previous gen Sony players are now wondering if the game is available on the PS4.

Can you play Hogwarts Legacy on PS4?

Yes, Hogwarts Legacy is available on the PS4 so those that are yet to upgrade will still be able to play it on Sony’s previous gen console. It can also be played on a variety of other platforms, including the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC.

When does Hogwarts Legacy come out for PS4?

It should be noted, however, that the PlayStation 4 version of the game will be coming a little later than the others. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game aren’t set to arrive until May 5, 2023.

The PS4 version of the game will also notably be cheaper than its PS5 counterpart because it will cost $59.99 as opposed to the $69.99 price point of the current gen entry. Unfortunately, those who do purchase and play the game on previous gen systems will most likely encounter a slight graphical downgrade.

Can I upgrade Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 to PS5?

At the time of writing, the upgrade situation for Hogwarts Legacy is a little messy. Right now it seems the only way to upgrade is to buy the game’s Digital Deluxe Edition on the February launch, which comes with a Cross-Gen Upgrade entitlement.

On the positive side, this means you’ll get access to the game on both PS4 and PS5. However, due to the staggered release date between the two versions, you won’t be able to access the PS4 version until that one arrives on May 5, 2023.

Currently, Warner Bros hasn’t announced any other sort of upgrade path, so we’ll have to see if they announce if the Cross Gen upgrade will be available for free or as a separate purchase later.

Visual differences aside, players on all systems should still be able to fully enjoy all that Hogwarts Legacy has to offer. A wide array of wonderful features awaits those that enter the game, which include the Sorting Ceremony and the wand selection at the beginning of the game. Then, there are also plenty to discover throughout the expensive grounds of the wizarding school , such as the wide variety of magical beasts that inhabit it.
