Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the best-selling retail game in the US last year, according to stats revealed by the NPD.

Sledgehammer’s shooter fared slightly better in the US than it did in the UK, where it was only the second best-selling game of the year.

Madden NFL 15 follows in second on the American best-sellers chart, with Destiny in third. GTA 5 follows at fourth, ahead of Minecraft.

In sixth place, though, is Super Smash Bros, up a huge 22 places on its position in the UK best-sellers list.

Neither Far Cry 4 or Assassin’s Creed: Unity place in the US top 10, however, despite proving popular over here.
