Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 has been subject to multiple peaks and troughs over the past year. From its brilliant release to horrendous nerfs, the stressful-but-thrilling co-op game has suffered from major issues since release.
However, the ongoing run Major Orders to build the Democracy Space Station has players returning in droves to acquire materials and liberate planets for construction. And it’s making the game better than ever.
The Battle for Claorell
While many have come back to Helldivers 2 to play with the new Chemical Agents Warbond, others have rejoined the fight to help construct the Democracy Space Station.
Right now, players are battling over the planet of Claorell to take mining facilities away from the Automatons to create the DSS. With hours to go, it seems the community is on track to secure the planet for Super Earth.
After failing previous major orders and receiving nothing as a result, players are almost fully on board with the Battle for Claorell. As the offensive reaches its finale, almost 70% of players are ravaging the Automaton forces to liberate the robot-infested planet. While some players are still fighting elsewhere and doing bug missions, most are fighting the war.
Outside of the game, players are almost back to the same level of hype they were at launch. Countless memes depicting the Helldivers battling the Automatons. It’s a true return to form, bringing the game back to its original feeling of joint camaraderie.
Helldivers 2 at its best
While the new Major Order doesn’t come with any new weapons or add to the best stratagems, at least yet, the fight for Claorell is bringing the game back to its original hype level.
Seeing the community band together over one sole purpose, throwing countless bodies at the same threat, is the game at its absolute best. Taking part in a major offensive is always thrilling, but the war to build the DSS feels more special than most.
