Looking for the Helldivers 2 release time countdown? Helldivers 2 is almost upon us, and the squad shooter will have plenty of alien-bug blasting fun for you and your friends to get your teeth stuck into when it launches this week.

If you’re not up to speed, Helldivers 2 is the follow up to the top-down shooter from 2015 that took inspiration from the Alien and Starship Troopers series (with a healthy dose of the latter’s dark sense of humour). For this new iteration, however, we’re zooming all the way in, going to a third person view – but have no fear, as what we’ve seen so far will be no less frantic and indeed, explosive as you and up to three friends team up to take down a mass of deadly oversized alien bugs.

The game’s nearly here – so let’s take a look at exactly when you can start playing. Before then, make sure you check out the Helldivers 2 PC requirements to make sure your rig can run it, of course.

Helldivers 2 release date

Helldivers 2 is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC on February 8, 2024. It’ll be a simultaneous worldwide launch, so unfortunately it seems the New Zealand trick won’t work here.

Helldivers 2 preload – when can I preload the game?

The Helldivers 2 preload is already available for the PlayStation 5 version of the game, having been made available from February 1, 2024.

However, at the time of writing preloads don’t appear to be available for the game on PC via Steam – so for now, you’ll have to wait until the game’s launch to download on PC. We’ll update if we hear more.

Helldivers 2 download size

Helldivers 2 weighs in at the following download size, depending on what platform you’ll be playing on.

• PC: 100GB
• PS5: 25GB

At the time of writing, it’s not quite clear why the size is far larger on the PC – this may be an issue of one being compressed and the other uncompressed. It may even be that the PC version just asks to hold 100GB of space just in case for future additional content. We’ll try and update when we find out more.

Helldivers 2 platforms

Helldivers 2 is exclusively available on PlayStation 5 and PC. Sorry Xbox owners, but the game is published by Sony and not likely to head to the Xbox Series console any time soon.
