The recent Helldivers 2 01.000.400 update saw over 100 changes made including many weapon and Stratagem buffs and adjustments, as well as many much-needed quality-of-life changes. So far, the update has been met with praise by the community and it looks like the game is getting back on track after facing a month of controversy and negative feedback for a variety of reasons.
U/A_Very_Horny_Zed took to Reddit to praise Arrowhead Game Studios for the recent 01.000.400 update, saying that Helldivers 2 is “in good hands” now. This is due to the developers buffing the Orbitals Precision Strike Stratagem “to support the way WE have been using it, instead of nerfing it to encourage the way THEY want it to be used.” This is in contrast to before Johan Pilestedt switched to being the Creative Director of the game and the team would often release reactionary updates to nerf weapons and Stratagems.
Other players agreed that the 01.000.400 update shows that Helldivers 2 is going in a positive direction, with U/BrilliantEchidna8235 saying “I also like the fact that Pilestedt explains the changes, both in the patch note and with another post specifically to do that in further detail.”
This update has already begun to bring players back to the game, with an 86% increase in peak concurrent players, including u/PrimoRaizel who returned after over two months away saying “Who would have thought that buffing most things to acceptable and strong levels is a better way to balance the game than nerfing anything that is fun and performs even a little bit better. Pilestedt singlehandedly carried the balance of the game on his broad and steady shoulders. Today, I have already played 3 matches from an absence of 2+ months, strictly because of this patch and what it means for the future of Helldivers 2. This is the kind of patch I want to see moving forward.”
With the new update being met with such a positive reception, it shows that Arrowhead Game Studios is heading in the right direction, which means that we should see more updates like this in the future.
