Since Helldivers 2 launched in February 2024, there have been many glitches that are present in the game that have yet to be patched as Arrowhead Game Studios have been focusing on weapon balancing instead. One of these glitches grants players infinite grenades, which can be incredibly helpful for taking out hordes of Automatons and Terminids, but not everyone is a fan.
U/Jeffspainuscupcake took to Reddit to vent about the infinite grenade exploit, which gives players 4 million grenades in their inventory.
“I know in the last patch the said they “fixed” the exploit but I’ve seen like every second game or so someone having infinite grenades (or well more like 4 million when you see them from spectating), I don’t know if it’s an exploit or cheats but I do not like playing with these kinds of people. Maybe I’m just crazy or something but I’ve never exploited infinite grenades or cheated since I’ve started playing and it disappoints me seeing people needing these and using these exploits/cheats so commonly (even if half of them have the survivability instincts of a pineapple).”
Exploits are nothing new in Helldivers 2, with many of them being present in the game since launch. Their use has always divided the community. On one hand, it is a PVE game so no one is really affected by their uses, but on the other hand, it does ruin the integrity of the game.
Arrowhead Game Studios claimed that the grenade glitch had been patched, but it can still be used in the game. But, with Johan Pilestedt now focusing on the development of Helldivers 2 rather than the business, we will likely see many of these issues finally addressed and fixed.
I have never tried the infinite grenade glitch, but according to users, to pull this off, use all of your grenades, once you are at zero open and close your Stratagem menu multiple times while holding your grenades, then try and throw a grenade. If it lets you, your grenade count will go into the negative and this means that the glitch has worked.
The latest Major Order has just gone live, which calls for players to liberate planets. This comes after players were tasked with eradicating 3 billion Automatons and Terminids. Unfortunately, players failed this Major Order, despite it seeming like a sure victory for the Helldivers. This could be due to the lower player count, which is decreasing at an alarming rate following the PSN controversy and constant weapon nerfs which have turned players off from the game.
