The Emancipator Exosuit Mech has divided the opinions of the Helldivers 2 community, with some really enjoying it and others feel it is a disappointment. For those that feel like it doesn’t meet expectations, it would likely only take a couple of alterations to be one a viable stratagem, and one player has a great suggestion that is so obvious it makes you wonder why it already isn’t part of the game.

Two robots stand in a rugged, desert-like setting. One faces a blazing fire near a tent with a flag, while the other observes. The screen displays mission objectives: "Eliminate Dreadnator." This scene appears straight out of Helldivers 2.

U/lukeman3000 has taken to Reddit to make some suggestions on how to improve the Mechs in Helldivers 2 by including an obvious feature that many people are surprised isn’t already in the game, a self-destruct function.

“I can’t count the number of times I’ve wanted to activate self-destruct on my mech. Instead, after running out of ammo, it just sits there, useless. This seems like a no-brainer to me. We should be able to purchase a self-destruct stratagem or upgrade (which appears in the stratagem menu so it doesn’t actually take up another stratagem slot) which would allow you to blow up your mech at your discretion; all you have to do is enter the correct sequence and then your mech blows up in 1-3 seconds.

They then also suggested adding an ejection feature once the self-destruct has been activation to send you away from the explosion and to safety.

“If you’re in the mech when you do this, you get ejected and then land some distance away from the mech much in the same way you land when respawning. Maybe it could be timed such that you’d see a huge ass explosion as you’re rocketing upwards. And if you were not in the mech when you did this, it would just activate remotely. The explosion should perhaps be one of the largest and most destructive explosions in the game.”

A self destruct feature seems like an obvious mechanic for the game so it is surprising that Arrowhead Game Studios didn’t include it with the Mech. Hopefully this is something that they include in the future because once the Mech runs out of ammo it is useless. At least this way it would still be able to cause some damage.
