The major update to Helldivers 2 has arrived. This is a ginormous patch filled to the brim with massive weapon buffs exceeding everyone’s expectations. It has been anticipated for awhile, and a lot of fans have been waiting for its release before coming back to fight for democracy. The Helldivers 2 player count has doubled following the patch’s arrival, and the community is full of praise for Arrowhead.
You can check out the update 01.001.100 patch notes to see all of the weapon buffs, along with the fixes and few nerfs implemented by the developer. Don’t forget we also have The Chemical Agents Warbond releasing on September 19th, and, in more big news, Arrowhead appear to be moving to Unreal Engine 5 according to a recent job listing.
Today’s update is a massive success, and it’s good to see that it has resulted in a significant player count increase as Arrowhead are listening to the community.
Helldivers 2 player count doubles
On SteamDB, you can track the player count for Helldivers 2. As of writing, the current player count is 44,196. On Tuesday the peak was 22,057, so the player count has slightly more than doubled.
Remember that this is only for Steam. It’s currently impossible to tell the current player count for the community on PS5, but it’s likely console has seen a significant increase also as there is a huge fandom dedicated to the game on PlayStation console.
While the player count right now is impressive, there is the possibility it could increase even more. Right now we are in working hours for the United States and United Kingdom, so a lot of the community have been unable to experience the patch and all of its changes so far.
Arrowhead deserve a lot of praise for the update. In the past fans have been upset over nerfs, but this time they have delivered what fans have wanted: massive buffs.
An example of this can be seen with the Thermite Grenade. On the series’ official subreddit, fans are showering Arrowhead with affection for delivering a 2,000% DMG increase that makes the Thermite Grenade exactly what it should have been since day one. And this is only one of over a dozen weapon buffs, so there’s way more improvements from the developer.
