Helldivers 2 fans told to not expect a “big patch” soon, here’s why

Helldivers 2 fans have a lot to anticipate for the future, but right now the game is slowing down. Updates have purposefully slowed down to be better tested, and Arrowhead are also slowing down the releases of warbonds. Unfortunately, for players wanting new content, Helldivers 2 fans have been told not to expect a “big patch” soon thanks to the development team entering “semi-siesta mode”.

Some fans are worried about the future of Helldivers 2 because it has lost over 90% of its player base on Steam. Although the concerns from fans are understandable, the eventual release of the Illuminate should, hopefully, bring players back in droves similar to the Sakarujima update for Palworld. There will also be more new content designed to bring players back in the future.

Many players have abandoned the game lately thanks to a feeling of sameness due to a lack of new experiences. Unfortunately, fans have become impatient and tired of waiting for major new content to arrive, and the bad news is that a “big patch” is not expected to arrive anytime soon.

Helldivers 2 fans told not to expect a “big patch”

On the series’ official Discord, a Helldivers 2 player asked community manager, Twinbeard, “If there’s gonna be at least some patches and small updates here and there throughout the month [of July]”. This is in relation to Arrowhead developers taking a summer break.

The community manager posted the following response:

“We won’t be gone for a month. We’re slowing down due to a lot of colleagues going on vacation, but the office will still be open and people working. There almost certainly won’t be a big patch during this period. Minor improvements and/or hotfixes are not ruled out.”

So, while the developers are undergoing summer break, fans should not expect a “big patch,” although there may still be hotfixes. This can be seen with an update planned to come out this week to improve PC performance issues.

Discussing the summer break previously, Twinbeard said “It is however fact that Sweden in many ways go into a semi-siesta mode during ‘Sweden industry summer break’, which is typically early July to mid August”.

Some ‘leaks’ have suggested that the release date for the Illuminate is around mid-July, but the summer break and expectation of no “big patch” this month throws that into doubt. Still, although there might not be a big patch this month, the good news is that the game is not being completely abandoned by Arrowhead as they may implement hotfixes and improvements if necessary.
