There has been a lot of issues with weapons recently in Helldivers 2. There was an OP bug with the Quasar cannon that was removed in hotfix 01.002.202, and then there was a weapon breaking bug with the Auto-Cannon that was fixed in update 01.002.203. While HD2 fans were pleased that the Quasar and Auto-Cannon were fixed, it appears that the newest Helldivers 2 updates introduced another OP weapon bug, this time introducing “infinite ammo”.
New Helldivers 2 update introduces “infinite ammo” bug
According to Helldivers 2 YouTuber, Glitch Unlimited, there is an “infinite ammo glitch” in HD2 right now.
To get the glitch to work, what you need to do is “dive onto a planet with a laser weapon,” and then “continuously shoot until it overheats”. As soon as the laser weapon has overheated, “you’ll want to reload and, right as the white ammo icon pops up on the bottom left, switch to your secondary then switch back to the laser weapon”.
This should allow you to “fire continuously without the primary weapon overheating”. It’s said that this glitch “works with secondaries as well,” but it doesn’t work with weapons such as the “Laser Cannon, Doubled-Edge Sickle”.
As for what it does work with, weapons include “LAS-16 sickle, LAS-5 scythe, and LAS-7 dagger”. It’s unknown how the glitch suddenly came about, but it’s suspected it could have been introduced as part of update 01.002.202 which fixed the Quasar Cannon, or it was introduced in update 01.002.203 which fixed the Auto-Cannon. Regardless of how and when, hopefully the glitch gets fixed soon.
