Helldivers 2 is on the cusp of receiving a huge update. This update will be swiftly followed by a new Warbond plus extra weapons and armor, and there are over a dozen leaked objectives and zones for this update as well as possibly the future. To help you explore what’s lurking behind the Gloom as soon as possible, here you will find the expected release date and time countdown for when the Helldivers 2 Into the Unjust update will start, and you’ll also find everything confirmed so far including new HD2 enemies and more.
Helldivers 2 Into the Unjust update release date
The release date for the Helldivers 2 Into the Unjust update is September 2nd. This is officially confirmed on the PlayStation Blog. It’s not to be confused with the thematically appropriate Dust Devils Warbond which is set to release on September 4th.
Towards the end of July, Arrowhead teased that we were on the precipice of a “new era of Gloom exploration”. Well, that day has come as with tomorrow’s update we will be able to explore the Hive Worlds that have been hidden behind the Gloom this entire time.
This is the closest we have come to a full-on horror update for the game as the Hive Worlds look like a creepy nightmare straight out of Alien. You will need to bravely wander within claustrophobic caves and you will need to gun down a bunch of alien threats.
When does the Helldivers 2 Into the Unjust update come out?
The expected release time for the Helldivers 2 Into the Unjust update is 2AM PT/5AM ET/10AM BST on September 2nd. This is the hour updates typically come out with Arrowhead sharing patch notes. We will make sure to relay the patch notes as soon as they have been released.
It is a massive update for HD2 as it adds a bunch of new content. Leading up to its release, on YouTube the developer provided a Deep Dive. This includes glimpses of gameplay and provides players with an overview of what to expect, although Arrowhead have not spoiled all of the secrets that are lurking beneath the Hives.

Countdown
New HD2 enemies
There are lots of new enemies to fear as part of the imminent update. While leaks have pointed to a Hive Lord, what Arrowhead has confirmed so far includes Dragonroach. This is a flying Terminid that spews burning bile and dives down onto unsuspecting Super Earth soldiers.
There’s also “new subterranean species of Terminid Warriors, Bile Spewers, and Chargers”. These new species lurk beneath the surface, and, “when they detect a threat, will burrow underground and begin moving toward prey [and] Once close enough, they erupt from the ground and attack”.
More deadly enemies are included in the update, but Arrowhead have not revealed what they are, keeping us in suspense.
New HD2 objectives
Lastly, as part of their deep dive, Arrowhead have confirmed two exciting objectives part of the Into the Unjust update. The first objective requires players to wander within the labyrinth of caves and blow up the Hive Lung. This has destructible environments that you can blow up to block off enemies, but the destructible environment has friendly fire, too. You will also need to look above for holes in the cave to get ammo drops and stratagems to help save your skin.
The other objective tasks players with drilling oil from Hive Worlds. This is via the mobile oil rig which is a “big, slow, clunky oil drill that you will drive around on the surface of the Hive Worlds to drill for the oil that Super Earth is basically farming”.
