There will be more updates for Helldivers 2 leading up to the release on August 26th for Xbox consoles. The Arrowhead CEO has apologised for the current state of performance and has assured fixes will be delivered “hopefully soon”. While fans want issues with performance and bugs to be fixed on PS5 and PC, a lot of Helldivers 2 fans have just discovered a “mind blowing” weapon feature and are imploring Arrowhead to “leave it alone”.
Helldivers 2 fans discover amazing weapon feature
On the Helldivers subreddit, a lot of fans have discovered a widely unknown feature of the MLS-4X Commando. A post titled “Why no one told me the Commando can do this?” has received 17K upvotes with nearly 1,000 comments expressing shock.
What players have discovered is that the Commando doesn’t need to be guided. You can hip fire and the rockets will go to where the laser sight was aimed. This means you can freely move behind cover or just move about rather than needing to guide the rockets.
As pointed out by YouTuber Space Cadet Krig, the Commando “remembers what point was last targeted” meaning “you can drop targeting and fire from behind cover [and] the Commando rocket will continue to follow to the last target”. This is something other guided weapons cannot do such as the EAT-17.
A lot of people were surprised by the quirk in Space Cadet Krig’s video, and a lot more were surprised on Reddit, too. Many comments echoed the sentiment “My eyes have been opened,” “mind blown,” and “It could do that all this time?”.
In the replies of another post titled, “The newly found commando FEATURE makes me wish all guided weapons had this mode,” a lot of people have begged Arrowhead to “leave it alone” and to not deliver a fix because it’s “unrealistic”.
Thankfully, Arrowhead has just confirmed they will not remove the feature. In a pinned reply, Arrowhead community manager, Baskinator, posted, “Glad you like it! I saw some people in the thread concerned we’d remove this feature, but it’s intentional and we have no plans to remove it”.
This is fantastic news. It seems the weapon has always had this feature since its release, but it was something unknown by the masses. It’ll be interesting to see how many people switch to the Commando with this newfound knowledge.
