Just recently Helldivers 2 players were treated to update 01.004.001 along with the new Dust Devils Warbond. The good news about the update is that it seems to have resolved some of the performance woes players were complaining about following the Into the Unjust patch. As for Dust Devils, this added a “perfect” new weapon that Helldivers 2 fans are begging Arrowhead not to nerf as the CEO teases making sure “we’re not liking it too much”.
Helldivers 2 fans beg Arrowhead to leave new weapon alone
The Dust Devils Warbond came out on September 4th and it includes a lot of fantastic new additions, but easily the biggest, instant fan-favorite is the AR-2 Coyote. Per the PlayStation Blog, this is an “assault rifle that features incendiary ammunition”.
Naturally, such a badass weapon has immediately become adored within the HD2 community, to the point where fans are pleading with Arrowhead to leave it alone. A fabulous meme shared by Reddit user, Wickedlurlofthewest, says, “I’ve only had Coyote for a day and half, but if anything happened to him, I would [kill] everyone in this room and then myself”.
Fans are worried about balance changes, with people in the replies pointing to what happened with the Eruptor, Pacifier, and Liberator Penetrator. One reply echoed the sentiment of many, saying, “God, I hope they never nerf this. Buff the other rifles”.
In fact, there’s an entirely separate post dedicated to the above sentiment, saying, “Coyote doesn’t need a nerf. Other ARs need a buff and light pen as a whole needs a light-rework”. A comment on another post said, “Loving it rn. Mag is good, recoil is minimal, dmg is good, and the incendiary rounds makes it all even better. This a big W”. Some comments have even dubbed the weapon “perfect”.
On the Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, posted, “I’m hearing we’re liking the new AR. Just making sure we’re not liking it TOO MUCH are we????? I saw the memes on Reddit”. This is a jest that makes it apparent the CEO is aware of the concerns about Arrowhead ruining the weapon through patches. With Jorjani self-aware, hopefully it’s something that doesn’t happen as with previous weapons.
