While there hasn’t been a patch this week for Helldiver 2, Arrowhead are officially “working on the next” update, and it will hopefully deliver nerfs for an Into the Unjust enemy that everyone hates. We haven’t had a patch since update 01.004.001 because it was released ahead of schedule. However, while the early release was fortuitous at the time, fans have become frustrated because of the continuing performance woes along with poor balance. One of the biggest frustrations has been a particular enemy introduced via Into the Unjust, and the good news is that this enemy should be nerfed in the next patch.
Helldivers 2 devs are “working on the next update”
On Discord, Arrowhead community manager, Baskinator, explained that there has been no update this week because the developer “moved the contents of the patch up to last week on Thursday so we could get those fixes out sooner”.
As for when the next patch will arrive, Baskinator said, “I don’t have a date to share yet, but we’re working on the next one”. Patches typically come out on Tuesday so the next update could possibly land on September 16th, but this is just speculation based on Arrowhead’s usual pattern.
While we don’t know exactly what the next update will address and fix, Baskinator confirmed “We’ve passed on a lot of feedback about the draggies and warstriders especially”. The “draggies” are in reference to the Dragonroach, a new enemy introduced via Into the Unjust that many HD2 players are complaining about.
Some of the biggest issues with the Dragonroach reported by the community include its broken spawn rate, as well as it being unfair to play against as it instantly kills players with just one shot. With all the complaints about its difficulty, we should receive nerfs similar to what happened with the Leviathan after its controversial debut.
Aside from most likely nerfing the Dragonroach, Arrowhead’s known issues webpage has been updated with the following issues:
- Extraction shuttle or beacon may clip into terrain, preventing extraction.
- The Helldiver may be reinforced onto the roof of the Cave on Hive Worlds.
- Rupture Warriors do not correctly track moving clients when attacking.
- The Nuke Nursey Drill can be dropped on top of the cave by the ship becoming inaccessible
Hopefully the next update does come out on September 16th, but there’s no guarantees right now. Arrowhead are committed to fixing the performance and poor optimization, especially on PC, but they are also aiming to continually develop new content. Leaked new content on the way includes fresh new Cultists summoned by even more new Illuminate, as well as a Superweapon that is basically Arrowhead’s version of the Death Star from Star Wars.
