Helldivers 2 has had an excellent year and this has resulted in Arrowhead receiving multiple, well-deserved game award nominations. While 2024 has been great, fans needn’t worry about Arrowhead resting on their laurels as they have a lot of plans for the future. Right now Arrowhead is working on a new “content roadmap” for Helldivers 2, but they are wary of risks such as “overpromising and underdelivering” on new updates.
In regard to what we know Arrowhead has planned for the future, the CCO has publicly stated that they are adding vehicles, meanwhile, we all know that the Illuminate are lurking, ready to invade. Away from what we officially know, there are a boatload of leaks that are not guaranteed to materialize. These leaks include an event on pitch-black planets with flares as the only source of light, and they also include new weapons and armor presumably for a future Warbond.
While leaks provide a look into what Arrowhead is possibly working on behind-the-scenes, fans would much rather an official outline of what’s to come. The good news is that Arrowhead is working with Sony on delivering a new roadmap for Helldivers 2, but they are taking caution so as not to overpromise and disappoint players.
Helldivers 2 devs working on new “content roadmap”
On the official Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead developer, Sephez, has revealed internal discussions are happening within the studio to deliver a new roadmap for HD2.
The developer said on December 9th that Arrowhead are “having internal discussions for what a roadmap could look like,” and this is because they “see the value in letting the community know that we’re working on exciting things and roughly when those could be released”.
While a roadmap is planned, there are risks that Arrowhead are wary of and wish to avoid. One of the risks is “overpromising and underdelivering content”. Arrowhead “care very deeply” about fans, and they don’t want to disappoint the community similar to what happened with Escalation of Freedom.
Right now, to avoid the pitfall of overpromising and underdelivering, Arrowhead is also talking with Sony “about different ways we can deliver a content roadmap for the community that doesn’t spoil any surprises but still allows people to have something to look forward to”.
There’s no ETA for when the roadmap will be delivered, but Sephez has said “it’ll hopefully happen sooner than later”.
