Arrowhead can be seen changing a lot of for Helldivers 2 in preparation for the next update arriving soon. October should be a busy month for the HD2 community. We know there will be Liberty Day in a few weeks, signalling the incoming arrival of free content, meanwhile, Arrowhead has confirmed we will be getting a new major update. While it’s impossible for this update to address all the performance woes caused by a “crippling technical debt,” Arrowhead has said that it will make a “noticeable improvement,” and on SteamDB we can see a lot of changes are being made.
SteamDB records Helldivers 2 changes for next update
As noticed by Helldivers 2 YouTuber, Glitch Unlimited, SteamDB has listed over a dozen changes made to HD2. On October 1st alone, seven changes are recorded, and on September 30th there’s as many as ten.
There’s even more changes recorded by SteamDB, some affecting as many as four items, and the changes date back as far as September 17th. The last HD2 update we received was patch 1.400.002 on September 16th, so it’s evident Arrowhead have been very busy since then.
Unfortunately, we can’t see exactly what has changed. All we officially know about the next update is that it is planned for mid-October, likely pointing to October 14th. Arrowhead’s CEO has said that Leviathans should return in the patch, and the studio has also listed the following for the update:
- Some key crash fixes
- Fixed the Primary weapon/Side-arm audio that stops during a mission
- Minor performance improvements
- Long overdue bug fixes, like Charger footstep sounds (pretty useful) or weapon audio stopping mid mission
- No more landing on caves
- A Balance Pass (we’re unleashing Niklas & Lennart)
In addition to the above, Arrowhead has said they are “working on a bigger development plan” to tackle the major performance issues that won’t all be addressed in the upcoming patch.
