Helldivers 2 devs are “looking into” adding true armor customisation for fans

In its current form, Helldivers 2 is an incredible game with a large amount of cosmetics to equip. However, Arrowhead COO Johan Pilestedt has confirmed that proper customisation is currently being looked at so that fans can truly express themselves in game as the team works on new warbonds, stratagems and more.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, Pilestedt confirmed that Arrowhead is “looking into” colour customisation for armor pieces in Helldivers 2. After being asked by a lone fan for sixteen consecutive days, the Arrowhead executive confirmed that actual customisation is being considered for a future update. 

“We are looking into it,” the Arrowhead COO confirmed with a smiley face emoticon.

While Helldivers 2 does have a pretty extensive virtual closet of armor pieces, helmets and caped for players to choose from, fans have asked for the ability to alter armor colors since launch. 

While no system has been confirmed, this could mean that awesome armours could be changed from their default looks to better represent what players want. With Arrowhead already being very cautious about diluting the Helldivers brand with crossovers and obscene cosmetics, we may not be able to make our soldiers hot pink, but any customization would be fantastic. 

“I think we need to be very careful and cautious when applying any skin or cosmetics,” Arrowhead said in a recent interview. “For example, even if I like a certain skin, I don’t want it to ruin the game experience of my teammates. I think the whole process has to be done carefully.”
