As one of the most intense multiplayer games in history, Helldivers 2 could lead itself hevily to some awesome crossover DLCs in the future. In response to popular tweet detailing a dream crossover, Arrowhead COO Johan Pilestedt detailed a number of IP he’d love to work on for the game.
However, just like recent comments from Phasmophobia developer Kinectic Games, Pilestedt doesn’t want to flood Helldivers 2 with reams of crossover. This isn’t Call of Duty, there won’t be any Nicki Minaj skins, but there is room for some crossover potential in the future.
Helldivers 2 crossover dreams
In a post on Twitter, Pilestedt explained that there are loads of different franchises he’d love to work on. However, adding every single one of them to Helldivers would result in a dilutted experience for fans of the game.
“These are just musings,” Pilestedt said. “If we were to do all of them, it would dilute the IP and make it a ‘not Helldivers’ experience. To add more to this conversation, here’s an extended list of Ips that I really would love to do a take on.”
The Arrowhead COO then provided the following list to players:
- Aliens
- Starship Troopers
- Terminator
- Predator
- Star Wars
- Fifth Element
- Blade Runner
- Warhammer 40K
- Trench Crusade
- Mutant Chronicles
- Dropzone Commander
Which ones fit?
While none of these franchises are confirmed or even teased as coming to Helldivers 2 in a future update, there is space for crossovers in the future. However, just like the COO says, adding too many would ruin the studio’s fantastic universe and take away from its unique elements.
Nevertheless, there is room for some small crossover content in the future. Maybe a Pulse Rifle from Aliens or a small cosmetic from Warhammer 40K. Whatever the case, as long as it doesn’t dilute the Helldivers 2 experience, it would be pretty damn great.
