343 Industries has announced that Halo Infinite will be getting four new multiplayer playlists this week.

An official post to the official Halo Reddit community broke down the news. Players will get to choose from Slayer, Fiesta, FFA and Tactical Slayer (A.K.A. SWAT) via a services update tomorrow, December 14. Previously, players have only been able to choose Quick Play or Big Team Battle for public matches outside of Ranked games, with specific game modes randomly chosen from a pool.

According to 343: “The team’s original plans for a Slayer playlist included a variety of new variants that weren’t going to be ready in time to deploy before the holiday break. To address player feedback for Slayer in the near term, we’ll be releasing a basic Slayer offering to start and will look to bolster and expand with more variants in a future update.”

These playlists won’t be the only addition in this week’s Halo Infinite update either. The post also says that there’ll be further changes to challenges following the increase of XP payouts per day. These include removing some “particularly frustrating” mode-specific challenges, reducing some requirements and adding brand new ones. The aim, as has been previously established, is to make XP gain less of a grind and more performance-based. We’ll get more info on those new challenges later this week.

Finally, the team at 343 Industries say they’re “aware” and “actively investigating” reports of errors in Big Team Battle matches. They also say they’re continuing to review Ranked matchmaking and “player feedback around potential anomalies”.

Halo Infinite is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. You can read up on our verdict on the campaign and multiplayer over here.
