With Season 4 of Halo Infinite launching today, Community Director at 343 Industries, Brian Jarrard, has announced that going forward, seasonal narrative cutscenes will no longer be present in the game. The decision has left fans frustrated and bewildered as to why Xbox’s flagship IP is seeing these cutbacks.

Taking to Twitter Jarrard said, “As we’ve refined our top priorities and shifted resources internally this year, we had to make the decision to forego seasonal narrative cutscenes to make room for the team to continue focusing on highly requested features, content, and improvements for Halo Infinite. These trade-offs are never easy to make, and we truly appreciate your support as the team works to make Halo Infinite the best experience possible. While the job is far from over, Season 4 marks another big step forward and we remain committed to this journey with the Halo community.”

This news has obviously come as a shock to many players. HaloVFX noted their sadness at the announcement saying, “As someone who works in film… I’m so damn gutted they’re not doing any more narrative cutscenes, I get they’re expensive etc but they were getting really good and interesting imo and seeing them cut just sucks.” Some players were left confused as to why Xbox’s flagship IP has had to make budget cuts at all with one player saying, “I find it so weird that Halo of all games is getting budget cuts and resources removed.”

Over on the Halo Reddit, players were left disheartened with user, ThatOneGuy497, already preparing for a drought in Halo story content saying, “The next narrative drought has just begun. Crazy since we were literally just in one before Infinite.” While Halo Infinite has certainly seen an influx of content over the last two years, players are still concerned with one user saying that they “find it surprising that it’s getting this barebones.”

This news comes after only a few days ago Halo fans were begging Xbox to pick up the pace as the next game seems nowhere in sight. In lighter news, as Infection makes its way to Halo Infinite the hilarious Season 4 armour has fans in stitches.
