Halo Infinite’s recent update saw the return of a fan-favourite mode from Halo 3, Squad Battles. The new mode is designed to be the perfect balance between Big Team Battle’s 12v12 modes and the smaller 4v4 modes. Squad Battles pit players in 8v8 scenarios such as Slayer, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill and more. However, despite this much-beloved modes return, fans are focusing on the inclusion of some of Halo 3’s most classic maps.

The latest update sees the return of some forge-made classic Halo 3 maps with a twist such as Kusini Bay, Vallaheim and Rat’s Nest. The modes available on each map have been listed below.

Kusini Bay:

  • One Flag CTF
  • Slayer
  • King of the Hill

Vallaheim

  • CTF (3 captures)
  • Slayer
  • Total Control

Rat’s Nest

  • CTF (5 captures)
  • Slayer
  • King of the Hill

Players have been taking to the Halo Reddit to share their love for the return of these maps with one player saying, “Feels good being in a Warthog on Valhalla again.” Others were quick to agree, with players noting that they want to see more of the classic open space-oriented maps from Halo 3. User vi_phoenix_iv said, “Maps were just better back then. Now every BTB map is just an over-engineered lane battle. Give me wide open spaces baby.”

Players have already started asking 343 Industries to make sure the playlist stays after its initial launch with one player saying, “It’s far and away the most fun I’ve had on Infinite since launch.” Other players have been calling for the playlist to be expanded to include even more classic maps such as Sandtrap, Spire, Blood Gulch and more. User Oddballforlife said, “It still blows my f**king mind how amazingly well made this map is. All three of them are great but this one [Vallaheim] just looks so damn good.”

It’s fair to say that universally Halo Infinite fans are hoping this playlist is here to stay.
